About Virginia Alanis.
Alanis was born in Allende, Nuevo León in northeastern Mexico. In 1970, at the age of two, she moved with her family to Dallas, Texas. Virginia earned both a bachelor’s and a master’s degree from Southern Methodist University. She went on to teach college literature and creative writing before debuting her book, LOVE FIELD in 2016. Her coming-of-age novel is inspired by Dallas’s urban multicultural heritage along with northeastern Mexico’s countryside. It features themes of family life, gender, race, and education.
